Peppermint is a popular aromatic herb that we are all familiar with. Let’s look at a few ways we can use it, beyond enjoying mint candy (!), so we can make the most of soothing peppermint.
Grow your own peppermint
Peppermint grows so easily in the garden or in a pot on the windowsill. We should all be growing it and enjoying it more. Just rubbing a leaf as you walk by it, is a lovely way to wake up your senses. Yes, it can get a little carried away and entangle other plants and spread, so container growing is perfect for mint. Put it in a pot near or in the kitchen so you can easily use it.
Peppermint to soothe digestion
Peppermint has been cherished for many centuries, especially for its ability to settle an upset stomach and support digestion. Peppermint can soothe the belly and eliminate cramps and intestinal spasms. It also can increase the flow of bile from the gallbladder, thus helping the digestion of fatty foods.
Remember when After Eight mints and an after-dinner liqueur like creme de menthe were popular? They were taking advantage of the digestive qualities of peppermint.
But we can do better than mint candies and liqueurs! Here are some different ways to be soothed by peppermint.
